Words... words... WOORDZ

September 3, 2014

Went on a word search of sorts, conjuring emotive words that may yield a half dozen or so possibilities for representative photos.  A quick glance at my surroundings provided photo opportunities that would well represent a few terms, and a mental campus tour led to a few more.  After looking up a list of emotion words online for more defined ideas, I settled on three words: serene, elated, and reserved.

I was confident I could find a number of things that conveyed the word "serene" well.  "Elated" would be a little more of a challenge, but anything that looks floaty and had bright colors would do.  For "reserved," I have a huge cabinet with a sturdy lock in my dorm room, and nothing says "I keep to myself" like a big ol' hairy padlock.

In class, we were to discuss our words with others at our table cluster with the intent of narrowing our selection of three down to a single word.  "Serene" was out almost immediately due to the sheer number of people who chose that exact word.  The other vizards in my peer review group suggested that "elated" would most likely give more options than "reserved," and I agreed.  My initial thought was to snap a photo of water droplets from a fountain at the apex of their arc, in order to convey the floaty feel that "elated" implies.  Terry responded to this idea with "we're about to discuss those issues," which tells me he has a problem with my fountain idea.  We'll see what he has to say.
